Eventhough electric guitars have not undergone technological changes and improvements the old classic guitars of 1950s and valve amplifiers are still good with great sounds in modern recordings, the only improvements being consistency and cost reduction dues to improvement in manufacturing technology. The two types of Fender and Marshal Tone controls are designed to compensate for low-middle emphasis of pickup and provide a useful range of tone adjustment. Generally, Fender tone controls are suitable for providing clean and chunky tones at clean and early-overdrive levels and Marshal Amps are for low-middle and crunchy rock tones played at medium to high overdrive level.

Plucked guitar strings need dynamic range to handle the initial peek and amplify the string vibrations.

Instrument speakers produce soft clipping effect and are suitable for guitar amplifiers rather than hi-fi speakers.

The amplifiers should be designed to provide their requirements to be overdriven for extended periods.

As the musical instruments used by a band often require transportation, they have to be designed in such a way to protect them from any external or internal disruptions while transporting.
